Editorial Responsibility

Editorial & Corrections Policy

Travel information changes. Evidence changes. Mistakes can also happen. Thrill My Guide aims to publish useful information with clear sources, appropriate claim strength, human responsibility and a practical route for correcting material errors.

TMG Editorial Principle

The public sentence should never sound more certain than the information behind it.

Strong evidence can support stronger wording. Limited evidence needs careful wording. Personal experience remains personal experience. Tradition remains tradition. Belief remains belief.

Why This Policy Exists

Trust requires more than publishing once.

TMG publishes travel guidance, research interpretation, destination information, journey pages, Creator Journey content, commercial information and public policy material. Different types of information require different levels of sourcing, review and updating.

This policy explains how TMG aims to distinguish evidence from experience, review material public claims, respond when information becomes inaccurate and make corrections when a meaningful error is identified.

Editorial Categories

Not every statement is the same kind of claim.

Research

Statements based on scientific, institutional or other documented evidence should reflect what those sources can reasonably support.

Operational fact

Prices, timings, routes, access rules, availability and destination conditions may require current verification.

Tradition & belief

Cultural, spiritual, scriptural or belief based material should be identified in the appropriate context rather than presented as scientific proof.

Personal experience

Traveller, creator and TMG experiences may be useful but should not be represented as proof that another person will have the same outcome.

Source Review

The source should fit the question being answered.

TMG may use different source types depending on whether the question concerns research evidence, current operational information, local practice, historical context, personal experience or belief.

Official information

Government, authority, destination, transport or institutional sources may be appropriate for current rules and operational matters.

Research sources

Peer reviewed research, systematic reviews and other credible research sources may inform evidence based claims.

First hand information

TMG or creator observations can add practical context where they are presented honestly as experience.

Traditional material

Historical, cultural and traditional sources may be relevant when discussing heritage, practice or belief.

Human Responsibility

Tools can assist the work. Responsibility cannot be automated away.

TMG may use search tools, software, structured workflows and AI assistance to organise information, compare sources, identify gaps, draft material or improve research workflow.

Material public claims still require appropriate human responsibility. AI generated text or automated output should not be treated as independent evidence simply because a tool produced it.

The source remains more important than the drafting tool.

Current Information

A correct statement can later become outdated.

Travel information can change quickly. Prices, opening hours, transport schedules, entry procedures, road conditions, weather warnings, visa rules, temple arrangements, crowd controls, supplier information and other operational details may change after publication.

Current official guidance takes priority.

Where a current official instruction conflicts with an older TMG statement, the current official information should be followed and the TMG content should be reviewed.

When Content May Be Updated

An update may be triggered by new information, not only by an error.

New or stronger research changes the evidence picture.
An official rule, destination condition or supplier detail changes.
A material factual error is identified.
A claim is found to be stronger than its evidence supports.
A creator, traveller, supplier or rights holder provides relevant new evidence.
A policy, product, route or TMG process materially changes.

Correction Levels

Not every edit requires the same treatment.

Minor Edit

Clarity without changing meaning

Spelling, formatting, broken links, grammar or small wording improvements may be corrected without a prominent correction notice where the factual meaning has not materially changed.

Material Update

Information has changed

A page may be revised when newer research, current operational information or a changed TMG process materially affects what a reader should understand.

Material Correction

A meaningful error affected the content

Where a significant factual, attribution, sourcing or claim error is confirmed, TMG should correct the information and may identify the correction where doing so materially helps readers understand the change.

Correction Process

How a material correction may be handled

01

Identify

Identify the exact page, sentence, image, claim or data point concerned.

02

Check

Review the relevant sources, records and context before changing the public page.

03

Correct

Change the wording, source, image, claim or other material that is materially inaccurate.

04

Record

For important material changes, TMG may update the reviewed date, version or correction note.

05

Review Related Use

Where appropriate, check whether the same material claim appears elsewhere in the TMG ecosystem.

Claim Ledger

Important claims should be traceable to their evidence and limitations.

TMG’s Claim Ledger provides a public framework for understanding how important statements can be connected to evidence category, source, limitations, approved wording and review information.

A claim may become narrower, be updated or cease to be approved where the supporting evidence no longer justifies the original wording.

Creator & Traveller Content

Personal stories can be corrected without rewriting someone’s genuine experience.

Creator stories, reviews and traveller experiences may contain personal opinion, memory and interpretation. TMG should distinguish a person’s own experience from independently verifiable factual statements.

Where a creator or traveller statement contains a material factual error, rights issue, misleading attribution or unsupported public claim, TMG may label, correct, contextualise, restrict or remove the affected material in accordance with applicable TMG policies.

Creator Verification & Terms

Commercial Content

Commercial relationships should not be hidden inside editorial language.

Where content involves an affiliate relationship, complimentary experience, sponsorship, creator reward or another material commercial relationship, the relevant relationship should be disclosed where appropriate.

A commercial relationship should not be presented as independent evidence that a provider, product or journey is suitable for every traveller.

Report A Material Concern

Important Boundary

A correction is about improving the public record.

Correcting, updating, qualifying or removing content does not by itself constitute an admission of negligence, legal liability or wrongdoing. The purpose of the correction process is to make public information more accurate, useful and appropriately qualified.

TMG may also decline a requested correction where the available evidence does not establish that the published material is materially inaccurate.

Related TMG Standards

Editorial responsibility is part of the wider TMG trust system.
